Expansion

Like the crooked roads of the village, the political equation of Mohanlalganj (reserved) Lok Sabha seat is also complicated. It has been reserved for Scheduled Castes since 1962, yet BSP never won from here. There is an atmosphere of happiness and sadness among the people of the area. There are schemes like Ujjwala, PM Awas Yojana, toilets and Kisan Samman Nidhi, but one has to work hard to avail their benefits. But free ration is available here. Amidst all this, outgoing MP Kaushal Kishore is contesting from BJP for the third time. The alliance of SP-Congress and the vote bank of BSP along with Modi’s claims of guarantee have made the elections exciting by making them triangular.

Grocery businessman Rashendra Tripathi, resident of Khudikheda village of Nigonha area, was found sitting at his shop on Friday. Amidst the rush of customers during Holi festival, it is said that one has to visit offices for government schemes like loans etc. Sometimes one has to worry about the accountant not coming and sometimes the lack of the secretary’s file. Dharamveer and Manish, residents of Fattekheda, say that they are going to work as labourers. There is no cultivable land. Free ration is available in abundance from the government quota shop. There is no problem in eating and drinking because of this. Farmers Harishchandra, resident of Keshari Kheda village of Mohanlalganj area, and Babulal of Sisendi say that hundreds of farmers like us are getting the benefit of Samman Nidhi. Earlier one had to wander around to sell the crop at a fair price. Now facilities are available sitting at home. Anil Pandey of Dahiyar and Diwakar of Bhaudri village say that the villages are developing. The household items which earlier had to be taken to Lucknow are now available in the village itself.

BJP in three assemblies

Mohanlalganj is the second seat connecting Rae Bareli, Unnao, Barabanki and Sitapur parliamentary seat to the capital Lucknow. Out of the five assemblies here, Mohanlalganj, Sarojininagar, Bakshi Ka Talab, Malihabad come in Lucknow, while Sidhauli is in Sitapur. BJP has three of these. There are more than 27 lakh voters in this seat, out of which 9,40,429 are male voters and the number of female voters is 10,82,912. There are 90 third genders.

Dalit decider: Strong impact is visible in every election

– There are more than four lakh voters of Rawat i.e. Pasi community. 2.53 lakh Yadav voters are also strong. 2.21 lakh Jatavs are also no less than anyone.

– 2.15 lakh Brahmins, 1.77 lakh Thakurs and about 1.75 lakh Lodhis and Mauryas also show their strong presence. 1.50 lakh Muslims also hold the position of judge.

Congress once had dominance… In the year 1952, the part of Mohanlalganj was divided between Rae Bareli and Unnao parliamentary seats. This seat was created in 1962. This is a safe seat due to the high population of Dalits. Ganga Devi of Congress won the first three elections. After this, SP’s Reena Choudhary emerged victorious twice. Congress has won five times, SP four times, BJP three times and Janata Dal and Lok Dal once each.

Mango orchards are special: discussed during election season
